Chapman L. Anderson

Chapman Levy Anderson (* March 15, 1845 in Macon, Noxubee County, Mississippi, † April 27, 1924 in Kosciusko, Mississippi ) was an American politician. Between 1887 and 1891 he represented the fourth electoral district of the state of Mississippi in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Chapman Anderson attended the public schools in Jackson and then the University of Mississippi in Oxford. During the Civil War he was a soldier in the army of the Confederate States. After the war, Anderson studied law. After his made ​​in 1868 admitted to the bar he began in Kosciusko to work in his new profession. In 1875, he was also mayor of this city. Politically, Anderson was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1879 and 1880 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Mississippi.

1886 Anderson was in the fourth district of Mississippi in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he broke on March 4, 1887 from Otho R. Singleton. After a re-election in 1888 he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1891 two legislative sessions. In 1890 he applied unsuccessfully for another nomination by his party. After the end of his time in Congress, Anderson was 1896-1897 Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi. Otherwise, he again worked as a lawyer. Anderson died in April 1924 and was buried in Kosciusko.
