Charity Opara

Charity Opara ( born May 20, 1972 in Owerri ) is a retired Nigerian sprinter who took mainly in the 400 -meter run.

On their special route they were each second in the IAAF World Junior Championships in 1990 in Plovdiv, at the African championships in the same year in Cairo and at the Pan-African Games in 1991, which also took place in Cairo. With the Nigerian 4 x 400 - meter relay, it was 1989 and 1990 respectively Africa champion and won at the Pan-African Games in 1991. Moreover, they took the 4 x 100 - meter relay silver medal at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland.

The greatest success of her career, she celebrated with the Nigerian 4 x 400 - meter relay at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, after she had just served a four-year doping suspension. Together with Olabisi Afolabi, Fatima Yusuf and Falilat Ogunkoya she won the silver medal in 3:21,04 minutes behind the Quartet of the United States and before the German squadron.

Charity Opara had a competition weight of 60 kg at a height of 1.70 m.
