Charles A. O. McClellan

Charles AO McClellan ( born May 25, 1835 in Ashland, Ohio; † January 31, 1898 in Auburn, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1889 and 1893 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles McClellan attended the public schools of his home. After a subsequent law school in Auburn and in Waterloo and his 1863 was admitted to the bar he began in Waterloo to work in this profession. Since 1868 McClellan was also active in the banking industry. In the years 1879-1881 he served as a judge in the 40th Judicial District of Indiana.

Politically, McClellan was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1888 he was in the twelfth electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of James Bain White on March 4, 1889. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1893 two legislative sessions. Since 1891 he was chairman of the committee responsible for supervising the expenditure of the Navy Department.

1892 McClellan waived on a bid again. In the following years he practiced as a lawyer again and continued working in the banking business. He died on January 31, 1898 in Auburn, and was buried in Waterloo.
