Charles Alexander Stevenson

Charles Alexander Stevenson (* 1855 in Edinburgh, † 1950) was a Scottish engineer and designer of lighthouses around Scotland.

Charles was the father of David Stevenson and the brother of David Alan Stevenson and a nephew of Thomas Stevenson. He attended the University of Edinburgh. Between 1897 and 1937 he built with his brother David twenty three lighthouses around Scotland and was known for his optical experiments.

With regard to lighthouses was the family known in the art, as even the grandfather of Robert Stevenson and his cousin Robert Louis Stevenson had been active in this regard. His son Alan Stevenson (1891-1971), continued the tradition.
