Charles Berthézenne

Charles Berthézenne ( born January 30, 1871 in Valleraugue, † June 11, 1942 ) was a French politician. From 1928 to 1942 he was a deputy of the National Assembly.

Berthézenne was, like his father, first hat manufacturer. In 1904 he moved into the council of his hometown Valleraugue, whose mayor he was 1908. He enjoyed great popularity there in 1921 and also elected to the General Council of the department of Gard. In 1928, he stepped up to the parliamentary elections and moved as an independent socialist in the National Assembly. The 1932 and 1936 re-elected politicians voted in 1940 for the Enabling Act of the Vichy regime. Although Parliament was thus de facto deposed, he kept until May 31, 1942 formally its mandate. He died a few days later in his home Valleraugue.
