Charles Boyle Roberts

Charles Boyle Roberts ( born April 19, 1842 in Uniontown, Carroll County, Maryland, † September 10, 1899 in Westminster, Maryland) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1875 and 1879 he represented the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Roberts attended the Calvert College, New Windsor until 1861. After a subsequent law degree in 1864 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Westminster to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In the congressional elections of 1874 he was in the second electoral district of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Stevenson Archer on March 4, 1875. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1879 two legislative sessions. He was chairman of the Committee on Accounts.

Between 1883 and 1887 Charles Roberts held the office of Attorney General of Maryland. Since 1891 he has worked as a judge, among other things, from 1892 at the Maryland Court of Appeals. He died on 10 September 1899 in Westminster.
