Charles Champlin

Charles Champlin ( born 1926 in Hammondsport, New York, USA) is an American journalist, film critic, television commentator, author and publisher.

He graduated in 1948 at Harvard University and was 17 years a reporter for Time and Life magazine. He worked in New York, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, and London. From 1965 he spent three decades initially worked as a film critic and columnist since 1991 as a kind of editor for the Los Angeles Times. He was Associate Assistant Professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and hosted for many years on American television ( Bravo Cable Network ), a program about " Champlin on Film " and a series "The great directors" about classic movies. Champlin was president of Los Angeles Film Critics Association and a trustee of the Los Angeles Film Teachers Association and the Los Angeles Student Film Festival. The Charles Champlin collection covers the years 1965-1992 ( most of 1968-1988 ). The collection contains primarily clippings and records of Champlin's articles about people and institutions in the entertainment industry, correspondence, materials of international film festivals, photos, etc. He is the author of various books.

On 3 August 2007 was honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles Charles Champlin with a star (No. 2344).
