Charles Dance

Charles Dance OBE ( born October 10, 1946 in Redditch, Worcestershire ) is a British actor and director.

Life

Charles Dance is the son of a cook and an engineer. He studied graphic design at Plymouth College of Art, before he turned to acting. Since the mid 1970s he was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and made himself a name as a stage actor. This led him in different cities of the United Kingdom such as London, Stratford- upon- Avon and Newcastle upon Tyne in a variety of pieces on the theater stage.

The German public he is out supporting roles in many feature films known inter alia from In Search of The Golden Child starring Eddie Murphy, Alien ³ with Sigourney Weaver, Last Action Hero with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ali G Indahouse, starring Sacha Baron Cohen, aka " Ali G ". He also appeared in many television series, but they are somewhat known to the British and U.S. audiences, including in The Jewel in the Crown (after The Jewel in the Crown by Paul Scott). Since 2011 he plays the role of Lord Tywin Lannister in the television series Game of Thrones.

Dance was taken on June 17, 2006 as Officer in the Order Order of the British Empire. From 1970 to 2004 he was married to Joanna Haythorn and has two children from this marriage. Currently Dance lives in Devon, England.
