Charles Duncan, Jr.

Charles William Duncan Jr. ( born September 9, 1926 in Houston, Texas ) is a former American professional managers and politicians (Democratic Party).

Biography

After attending school, he completed his military service in the United States Air Force, studied chemical engineering at Rice University and completed his studies in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science ( B.Sc.) in Chemical Engineering. He then graduated to a 1949 post-graduate studies in Management at the University of Texas. His professional career began in the port as a chemical engineer at the Humble Oil Co., and at the same time when founded by his uncle Herschel Mills Duncan Duncan Coffee Company, which later became Duncan Foods Company.

1959 acquired the Duncan Duncan Foods Co. and was its president until its sale to the Coca -Cola Company in 1964. Subsequently, he became a member of the Board and Managing Director of Coca -Cola and was finally from 1971 to 1974 president of Coca -Cola Company. After that, he was a board member of the Rotan Mosle Financial Corporation.

In 1977 he became the successor of Bill Clements Assistant Secretary of Defense ( Deputy Secretary of Defense ). As part of a reshuffle of his cabinet U.S. President Jimmy Carter appointed him finally on 24 August 1979 as the successor to James R. Schlesinger to the Secretary of Energy ( Secretary of Energy). This office he held until the end of Carter's term of office on 20 January 1981.
