Charles E. Creager

Charles Edward Creager (* April 28, 1873 in Dayton, Ohio; † January 11, 1964 in Muskogee, Oklahoma ) was an American politician. Between 1909 and 1911 he represented the third electoral district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Creager attended the public schools of his home in Ohio and then the Northern Indiana University. He then went into the newspaper business. During the Spanish- American War, he was Sergeant Major of an infantry unit of the U.S. Army. Between 1899 and 1904 he gave in various cities of Ohio out some newspapers. In November 1904 Creager moved to Muskogee in present-day Oklahoma, which was in Indian Territory at the time. There he became involved in the newspaper and publishing industry. Later he moved more newspapers in the State of Oklahoma.

Politically Creager was a member of the Republican Party. In 1908 he was selected in the third district of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he replaced James S. Davenport of the Democratic Party on March 4, 1909. After he lost at the next elections against Davenport, Creager was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1911. After the end of his time in Congress Creager was employed by the Indian authorities. In addition, he was until 1934 in the oil business. Since 1934 he lived in retirement in Muskogee. There he died in January 1964 at the age of 90 years.
