Charles F. Curry, Jr.

Charles Forrest Curry, Jr. ( born August 13, 1893 in San Francisco, California, † October 7, 1972 in Long Beach, California ) was an American politician. Between 1931 and 1933 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Curry was the son of the Congressman Charles F. Curry ( 1858-1930 ). He attended the common schools and the Howe 's Academy in Sacramento. After that he went with his father, who was a congressman since 1913, in the capital city of Washington, where he studied at George Washington University. This is followed by a law degree from Georgetown University followed. His admission to the bar was made in 1921. During the First World War curry was 1917-1919 as a lieutenant in the Air Corps of the U.S. Army. Otherwise, he worked as secretary to his father. Between 1919 and 1930 he worked for the congressional committee to administer the territories, whose chairman was again his father at this time.

In the congressional elections of 1930, Curry was selected in the third electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he succeeded his late father in the meantime on March 4, 1931. Since he has not been confirmed in 1932, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1933. This was marked by the events of the Great Depression.
