Charles Frederick I, Duke of Münsterberg-Oels

Karl Friedrich I of Oels (also Karl Friedrich I of Podiebrad, Karl Friedrich I of Oels and Münsterberg, Czech Bedřich Karel z Minstrberka; born October 18, 1593 in oil; † May 31, 1647 ibid ) was from 1617 Duke of oels and from 1639 Duke of Bernstadt. He also led the title of duke of Münsterberg and the title of Count of Glatz.

Life

Karl Friedrich Berger family came from the Munster branch of the Bohemian noble family Podiebrad. His parents were Charles II of Münsterberg and Elisabeth Magdalena (1562-1630), daughter of Duke Georg II Brieger

After the death of his father in 1617 Karl Friedrich took over the government over the Duchy of oil. At the same time he inherited along with his older brother Heinrich Wenzel Moravian gentry Sternberg and Jaispitz that belonged to him after Heinrich Wenzel's death in 1639 alone. On December 4, 1618 he married Anna Sophie of Saxe- Altenburg ( 1598-1641 ).

1619 was Karl Friedrich at the head of an embassy, which had been commissioned by the Silesian princes and estates, in Prague invite the newly elected King of Bohemia Friedrich to an inaugural visit to Wroclaw. After the death of his brother Heinrich Wenzel 1639 Karl Friedrich joined its successor as Duke of Bernstadt. 1642 he married his second wife, Sophie Magdalena ( 1624-1660 ), daughter of Duke Johann Christian von Brieg.

Karl Friedrich was the last male descendant of the line of Münster Berger Podiebrad in oil. Through the marriage of his only daughter Elizabeth Mary with Silvius Nimrod came Oels and the Bohemian rule Sternberg at the house Wuerttemberg.
