Charles Girault

Charles Louis Girault (* December 27 1851 in Cosne- Cours- sur -Loire, † December 26, 1932 in Paris) was a French architect.

It was in 1880 equipped with the Prix de Rome and went to Italy. There he restored among others, the Villa Adriana.

After his return to France he won the competition for the planning of the Petit Palais. He also took over the construction management of the Grand Palais, although he was not the author of the plans for it.

After the Great Exhibition of 1900, he was brought by King Leopold II's visit to Brussels, where he built Castle of Laken, the Royal Museum of Central Africa and the Arc de Triomphe for the 50 -year-old Belgian independence.

His most important works include the design of the tomb of Louis Pasteur or the Palacio Taranco in Montevideo.
