Charles Gubser

Charles Samuel Gubser ( born February 1, 1916 in Gilroy, California, † August 20, 2011 in Fresno, California ) was an American politician ( Republican).

Life

Charles Gubser visited until 1934, the San Jose State Junior College. Then he studied until 1937 at the University of California at Berkeley. From 1939 to 1943 Gubser taught biology at the Gilroy Union High School. After the death of his father in 1940, he was also engaged in farming.

In the years 1951 and 1952 Gubser was a deputy in the California State Assembly. In 1952 he was elected as a Republican to the 83rd Congress. During his further political career, he was re-elected ten times, and thus represented the tenth constituency of the State of California from January 3, 1953 until his resignation on December 31, 1974 at the House of Representatives of the United States. In the elections 1974 94th Congress Gubser had already no longer a candidate. He now settled in Monument, Colorado. In 2005 he moved to Fresno to live closer to his family.

Gubser was married twice and had a daughter from his first marriage. Since 2004 he was widowed.
