Charles H. Griffin

Charles Hudson Griffin ( born May 9 In 1926, Utica, Hinds County, Mississippi; † September 10, 1989 ) was an American politician. Between 1968 and 1973 he represented the third electoral district of the state of Mississippi in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Griffin was the great-grandson of Isaac Griffin, who was sitting 1813-1816 for Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was born on a farm near Utica and attended Utica High School and the Hinds Junior College. His studies were interrupted by the Second World War, at the Griffin participated since 1944 as a soldier of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. After the war, Griffin completed his education with studies at Mississippi State University, where he graduated in 1949.

Politically, Griffin was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1949 and 1968 he was an assistant to Congressman John Bell Williams. After his resignation due to his election as governor of Mississippi Griffin won the by-election became necessary in the third district of his state. Since he also won the next two regular congressional elections, he could remain between 12 March 1968, to January 3, 1973 at the Congress. 1972 Griffin waived on another candidacy. Between 1980 and 1989 he worked as State Secretary in the administration of the Senate of Mississippi.
