Charles Hose

Charles Hose ( born October 12, 1863 in Hertfordshire, England; † November 14, 1929 ) was a British colonial administrator, zoologist and ethnologist.

He received his education at Felsted School in Essex and the University of Cambridge. He was the second white Raja Charles Brooke, offered, which he accepted in 1884 an administrative cadetship in Sarawak.

The pants Mountains in Sarawak is named after him, as well as various animals:

  • Hoses Kleinstgleithörnchen ( Petaurillus hosei )
  • Stain Wing Broadbill ( Calyptomena hosii )
  • Plain Roller ( Diplogale hosei )
  • Four chipmunks ( Lariscus hosei )
  • Pants langur ( Presbytes hosei )
  • Suncus hosei (a kind from the kind of thick cock shrews )
  • Rana hosei (a kind of genuine frogs)
