Charles II, Duke of Savoy

Johann Karl Amadeus ( Italian: Carlo Giovanni Amedeo ) ( born June 23, 1488 Turin, † April 16, 1496 in Moncalieri ) was 1490-1496 Duke of Savoy.

Charles was the son of Duke Charles I. and Blanche of Montferrat. Like his father, Karl, and how his elder brother and predecessor in office duke, Philibert I. was, Karl still a minor when he took office. For just 21 -month-old heir to the throne, the mother Bianca took over the regency. This coincided with a particularly turbulent era in Italy: in 1494 exceeded the French king Charles VIII the Alps to take up the space occupied by him heritage in the neighboring Duchy of Milan. The seat of government was moved under Bianca of Savoy to Turin, where he remained until the Italian unification.

Charles died in 1496 age of seven in a fall from his bed. Heir to the throne was his great-uncle, Philip II
