Charles III, Count of Alençon

Charles III. of Alençon (Charles de Valois ) (c. 1337; † July 5, 1375 at Schloss Pierre- Scize in Lyon) was Count of Alençon and from 1365 Archbishop of Lyon.

Karl was the eldest son of Charles II, Count of Alençon and Le Perche and Maria of Castile, daughter of Ferdinand II de la Cerda. He was from 1344 Lord of Domfront and followed in 1346 his fallen at the Battle of Crécy father as Count of Alençon. Karl came in 1358 in the Dominican Order in 1365 and Archbishop of Lyon. In Alençon was succeeded by his younger brother Peter. As archbishop, he defended his claims to jurisdiction in Lyon against the French king and the city of Lyon.
