Charles K. Fletcher

Charles Kimball Fletcher ( * December 15, 1902 in San Diego, California, † September 29, 1985 ) was an American politician. Between 1947 and 1949 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Fletcher attended the common schools and then studied until 1924 at Stanford University. In 1934 he also completed a course of study at the University of Oxford in England. Professionally he worked in the banking industry. During the Second World War he was a member as a lieutenant in the years 1943 to 1945, the reserve of the U.S. Navy. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1946, Fletcher was the 23rd electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Edouard Izac on 3 January 1947. Since he has not been confirmed in 1948, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1949. This was marked by the events of the early Cold War.

Between 1934 and 1959, including during his time as a congressman, was Fletcher President and Manager of the Home Federal Savings & Loan Association. After that, he was the CEO. From 1955 to 1957 he was a member of the California State Commission for the control of prisons. Charles Fletcher spent his life in his hometown of San Diego, where he died on 29 September 1985.
