Charles L. Bennett

Charles Leonard Bennett ( born November 16, 1956 in New Brunswick, New Jersey) is an American astrophysicist and professor of physics and astrophysics at Johns Hopkins University.

He is the head of the research group of the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe ( WMAP ) of the NASA project. Prior to 2005, Bennett Senior Scientist for Experimental Cosmology was, Goddard Senior Fellow, and Infrared Astrophysics Branch Head at Goddard Space Flight Center. Bennett was the summer of 1976-1978 at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, Department of Terrestrial Magnetism.

Training

1978 Bennett received the B. S. in physics and astronomy with cum laude and high honors in Astronomy at the University of Maryland, College Park. In 1984 he received from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Ph.D. in physics.
