Charles Lee Smith
Charles Lee Smith ( * 1887, † 1964) was an American civil rights activist. For his efforts against the supremacy of religion, he took a conviction for blasphemy in purchasing. Smith regarded as the last of blasphemy prisoners in the United States.
Life
Smith operational since 1928 in Little Rock, Arkansas, a business was to get into the free atheistic literature. In the following window lettering could be read: "Evolution Is True. The Bible 's a Lie. God's a Ghost. " ( " Evolution is true., The Bible is a lie. God is a Spirit. "). Then he was accused of blasphemy. As an atheist, he was not willing then to swear the oath on the Bible in court. For a few days in prison he made a protest with a hunger strike for attention.
