Charles Loos

Charles Loos ( born July 29, 1951 in Brussels) is a Belgian jazz pianist and composer.

After training in Belgium in 1972, he went to the Berklee School of Music in Boston to study jazz composition and arrangement. Back in Belgium he played among others with Toots Thielemans, Johnny Griffin, Chet Baker, Philip Catherine. He founded with Serge Lazarevitch the " Loos Lazarevitch International Quintet" ( with Riccardo Del Fra, John Ruocco and Eric Ineke ) and with the singer Maurane and Steve Houben " HLM ". In 1997 he founded a duo with Jean -Pierre Catoul, with whom he released two albums. He also plays solo, in his own trio ( "French Graces " in 2003 with bassist and drummer Bruno Castellucci Bas Cooijmans, by Theme French songs ), and the quartet with saxophonist André Donni ( " Unknown Mallow " 1996).

In 1988 he received the " Sax Prize" for the best concert of the year. In 1997 he received the Django d' Or ( Belgium).
