Charles M. Thomson

Charles Marsh Thomson ( born February 13, 1877 in Chicago, Illinois, † December 30, 1943 ) was an American politician. Between 1913 and 1915 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Thomson attended the common schools and the Chicago Manual Training School. He then studied at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington ( Pennsylvania). After a subsequent law degree at Northwestern University in Evanston and his 1902 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career. In the years 1908, 1910 and 1912, he was elected to the City Council of Chicago. Politically, he joined, founded by former U.S. president Theodore Roosevelt Progressive Party.

In the congressional elections of 1912 Thomson was in the tenth electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Republican George Edmund Foss on March 4, 1913. Since he has not been confirmed in 1914, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1915. Between 1915 and 1927 Charles Thomson worked as a judge in various courts. He then practiced as a lawyer again. From 1933 to 1939 he was curator of the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad; and then he held the same position until his death at the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad.
