Charles R. Johnson

Charles Richard Johnson ( born 1948 in Evanston, Illinois) is an American novelist and short story writer, essayist, and university professor.

Johnson began at the age of 17 years, cartoons and comics to publish and studied philosophy and literary aesthetics. He lives in Seattle ( Washington), taught at the university in the subject Creative Writing and has hosted a signatory own TV show, Charlie 's Pad. He has published novels, short stories, essays, and wrote several screenplays for African-American subjects. Among his most famous works are the historical novels " The Crossing" and "Dreamer". As told in " The Crossing" is a first-person narrator of his experiences aboard a slave ship, describes "Dreamer" the last days of Martin Luther King through the eyes of his colleagues. His literary works are influenced by European, African and Far Eastern philosophy, especially Zen Buddhism, African-American folklore and satirical elements. His literary influences include Ralph Ellison, John A. Williams and Herman Melville.
