Charles R. Robertson

Charles Raymond Robertson ( born September 5, 1889 in Madison, Wisconsin; † February 18, 1951 in Bismarck, North Dakota ) was an American politician. Between 1941 and 1943 he represented the first electoral district of the state of North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives, from 1945 to 1949 the second constituency.

Early years

In his youth, Charles Roberson helped his father in the management of his family's farm in Columbia County, Wisconsin. At the same time he attended the public schools. Later Charles Robertson graduated from Parker College, Winnebago (Minnesota). In the following years he worked in several grocery stores in Minnesota and the Dakotas.

Congressman

Robertson was a member of the Republican Party. In 1940 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention and the executive of the party in North Dakota. In the congressional elections of 1940, he was elected as the successor to William Lemke in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he completed between January 1941 and January 3, 1943 3 a legislature. After 1942 no longer nominated by his party, he had to return it to Lemke its mandate.

In the congressional elections of 1944, he was nominated in the second constituency of North Dakota for the Congress. On 3 January 1945, he joined the successor to the previous MPs Usher L. Burdick. After a re-election in 1946 he was able to exercise this mandate until January 3, 1949. For the elections of 1948 he was not nominated. His seat fell back to Burdick.

After the end of his political activity in Washington Robertson his business enterprises devoted back to Bismarck. He also operated a factory for the manufacture of paints in Washington. Since 1949 he was also a member of the Hoover Commission on the reorganization of the federal government. Charles Robertson died in February 1951 and was buried in Minneapolis.
