Charles Renard

Charles Renard (born 23 November 1847 Damblain, the Vosges, † April 13, 1905 in Paris) was a builder of airships.

Shortly after the end of the Franco-German War 1870/71, the French Captain Charles Renard dealt with the development of airships. After building a model, he received 200,000 francs from the treasury. He built with his brother Paul and Captain Arthur HC Cancer by the year 1884, the airship " La France ". With the rise on August 9, 1884 was able to prove that the construction and operation of a dirigible is possible. He examined it and the required strength of tethers and thereby developed the foundations for the system of standard numbers ( Renard series, Renard series), based on dezimalgeometrisch stepped sequences.
