Charles Rohlfs

Charles Rohlfs (* February 15, 1853 in New York; † June 29, 1936 in Buffalo, New York) was an American furniture designer.

Rohlfs was in Boston since 1868 actor. In 1884 he married the later writer Anne Katharine Green. The consent of his father to the marriage took place under the condition that Rohlfs give up acting. Rohlfs began with the design of furniture, which found a few years later appeal worldwide. Following an exhibition in Turin in 1902 Rohlfs was recorded and commissioned to design a furniture group for Buckingham Palace in the Royal Society of Arts in London.

Rohlfs is one of the representatives of the Arts and Crafts Movement.
