Charles S. Randall

Charles Sturtevant Randall ( born February 20, 1824 in New Bedford, Massachusetts; † August 17, 1904 ) was an American politician. Between 1889 and 1895 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Randall Charles first attended a private school and the Friends Academy in New Bedford. For some time he also studied in France. During the Gold Rush, he went in 1849 for two years after California. After his return he worked until 1872 in commission and mail order. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. In 1883 and 1884 he was a member of the Massachusetts Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1888 Randall was the first electoral district of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Robert T. Davis on March 4, 1889. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1895 three legislative periods. Since 1893, he represented the then again furnished 13th district of his state. In 1894, he was not nominated by his party for re-election.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Charles Randall withdrew into retirement. He died on 17 August 1904 in his hometown of New Bedford.
