Charles Stent

Sir Charles T. stent (* 1807 in London, † 1885) was a dentist and developed in 1856 was named after him thermoplastic material composed of resin, wax, talc and dye, for the impression of the jaw and teeth. He had two sons, Robert Charles Stent (1845-1901) and Arthur Howard stent (1859-1900), who were also dentists and invented by the father material redistributed.

According to him, possibly known as a stent endoprostheses are named that serve the inner splinting of constricted hollow organs. Stents are implanted in the coronary vessels worldwide. But even in the bile ducts in the upper airway, esophagus and ureter in the meantime also in narrow canaliculi stents of different designs are used.
