Charles Terront

Charles Terront ( born April 25, 1857 in Saint- Ouen, † October 31, 1932 in Sainte -Marguerite- les -Marseille ) was a French cyclist.

Charles Terront was the first "star" in French cycling. In 1876 he started with cycling, together with his brother Jules. As a result, he gained in 15 years of active service 54 victories in major races. He started in various disciplines on road and rail, his particular specialty was long-distance journeys.

In 1879 Terront completed 546 kilometers in a 24 - hour race. 1891 Terront won the first edition of Paris-Brest- Paris. It took him 71 hours and 22 minutes and was in Paris expects tens of thousands of spectators who had partly been waiting through the night. On September 27, 1893, he left St. Petersburg by bicycle in the direction of Paris, where he arrived on the Buffalo Velodrome after 14 days and seven hours.
