Charles Theodore Pachelbel

Carl Theodor (us) Pachelbel (Charles Theodore Pachelbel, baptized on November 24, 1690 in Stuttgart, † September 17, 1750 in Charleston, South Carolina ) was a German organist and composer who lived in the American colonies long.

Life

Pachelbel, son of the famous Johann Pachelbel wandered, 1730 to North America and lived first in Boston. 1733 he was appointed the first organist of the new organ at Trinity Church in Newport. He worked there until 1735.

1736 he moved to Charleston, South Carolina. With organ concerts which he gave to 1736/37 in New York City and Charleston, he is a founding member of the North American musical life. Of his compositions an already arisen in Germany Magnificat is only obtained.
