Charles Victor Daremberg

Charles Victor Daremberg ( born March 14, 1817 in Dijon, † October 24, 1872 in Mesnil -le- Roi at Saint- Germain -en- Laye ) was a French physician, librarian, classical philologist and historian of medicine.

Life

Daremberg taught, among others, at the Collège de France and held the Chair of History of Medicine.

His main area of ​​work was the critical text edition and translation of the great Greek physicians Galen and Hippocrates.

It is known Daremberg today also for the issued jointly with Edmond Saglio 1877-1919 Dictionnaire des Antiques et Grecques Romaines.
