Charles Vidor

Charles Vidor, Vidor actually Karoly ( born July 27, 1900 in Budapest, † June 4, 1959 in Vienna) was an American director of Hungarian origin.

Life

Vidor was known as a director of numerous American films. He won 1946 Silver Condor, an Australian Film Award for the best foreign film A Song to Remember (1945 ). 1953 and 1956 he was nominated by the U.S. Directors Guild of America for the best directing. It has been immortalized on the Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd .. Vidor died during the shooting of his film only few are chosen. His friend George Cukor finished the film for him.
