Charles Virolleaud

Charles Virolleaud ( born July 2, 1879 in Barbezieux, Charente, † December 17, 1968 in Paris) was a French orientalist, archaeologist, religious scholars and writers.

Charles Virolleaud dealt among other things with the scientific analysis of the finds from Ras Shamra and the religion of the Shiites. He took part in the decipherment of cuneiform. In 1941 he was elected to the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres.
