Charles W. Jewett (Connecticut politician)

Charles Wood Jewett ( born March 14, 1913 in Detroit, Michigan, † November 3, 2000 in Lyme, Connecticut ) was an American politician. Between 1955 and 1959 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Connecticut.

Career

Charles Jewett lived in Lyme, and became a member of the Republican Party. In 1940 and 1946 he was elected to the House of Representatives from Connecticut. In 1954 he was elected to the side of Abraham A. Ribicoff for Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. This post he held 1955-1959. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. In August 1956 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in part in San Francisco, was nominated to the President Dwight D. Eisenhower for reelection.

After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor Charles Jewett is no longer politically have appeared. He died on 3 November 2000.
