Charles W. Woodman

Charles Walhart Woodman ( born March 11, 1844 in Aalborg, Denmark, † March 18, 1898 in Elgin, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1895 and 1897 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Woodman attended the public schools of his native Denmark. Between 1860 and 1863 he went to sea. Then he came to Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, where he hired with the U.S. Navy. He took part in the final phase of the civil war. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Chicago and his 1871 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. In 1877 he was appointed attorney; In 1881 he was Justice of the Peace in Cook County.

Politically Woodman was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1894 he was in the fourth electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Julius gold trim on 4 March 1895. Since he has not been confirmed in 1896, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1897.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Charles Woodman practiced again as Aanwalt. He died on 18 March 1898 in Elgin and was buried in Chicago.
