Charles Wegelius

Charles Wegelius ( born April 26, 1978 in Espoo, Finland ) is a British racing cyclist.

Career

Charles Wegelius rode as a stagiaire at the Linda McCartney Racing Team in late summer 1999. He got a contract for the 2000 season at the Belgian cycling team Mapei - Quick • Step. He went there for three years and moved to De Nardi, where he went two years in 2003.

Since 2005 Wegelius riding for the ProTour team Liquigas- Bianchi. He shows up like in breakaways and is also on the mountain quite strong. At the Giro d' Italia 2006, he was fifth on the 18th stage of a small leading group.

In September 2011 Wegelius has ended his career as a professional cyclist after the Giro di Padania.
