The Charley River is a 140 km long river in the Yukon - Charley Rivers National Preserve in Alaska near the border with the Yukon Territory kanadischern. It rises in the Mertie Mountains, then flows first north-west, then in a northeasterly direction and flows 90 km northwest of Eagle in the Yukon River.

The river crosses in its course three distinct topographical regions. First, wide valleys in the highlands, surrounded by mountains with an altitude of up to 2000 m, then deeply incised river valleys between rocks and cliffs and finally open floodplains, where he meanders with low flow rate through the lowlands of the Yukon.

According to a recording of Frederick Schwatka, a lieutenant in the United States Army, from 1885 was the name of Alaska Natives for the River " Traodee ". In an unpublished map from 1898, the river was listed as " Charlie River". Lieutenant Cantwell of the United States Revenue Cutter Service in 1902 led the spelling of " Charley River" one.

The Charley River and its seven major tributaries, Copper Creek, Bonanza Creek, Hosford Creek, Derwent Creek, Flat - Orthmer Creek, Crescent Creek and Moraine Creek, with a total length of 335 km in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act as a national Wild and Scenic River designated under the administration of the National Park Service.
