Charlie Aitken (footballer born 1942)

Charles " Charlie" Alexander Aitken ( born January 5, 1942 in Edinburgh ) is a former Scottish football player at the position of a defender. For most of his active career as a football player, he spent at Aston Villa where he holds the club record for most duty stakes.

Career

Aitken played from August 1959 to May 1976 17 seasons at Aston Villa and still holds the club record for most missions. He has 561 league operations, including 14 league goals. Counting his FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup inserts also to Aitken came on a balance sheet total of 659 completed appearances for Aston Villa, as well as 16 goals. The last two years of his professional career, he played in the North American Soccer League for the New York Cosmos.
