Charlie Burse

Charlie Burse ( born August 25, 1901 in Decatur, Alabama, † December 20, 1965 in Memphis, Tennessee) was an American blues musician. The guitarist, banjo and ukulele player Burse, sometimes called Uke Kid is best known as a member of the Memphis Jug Band and longtime partner of Will Shade.

1939 Burse founded his own band, the " Memphis Mudcats ." He went on solo and getting back together with Shade. Among the recordings of Charlie Burse include Good Potatoes on the Hill, Weed Smoking Mom and Bottle Up and Go.

By the time it was quiet around the old Memphis blues veterans. 1956 were Burse and Shade rediscovered by blues researcher Samuel Charters and experienced considerable popularity during the folk and blues revival in the 1960s.

Charlie Burse died 1965. Beale St. The album Mess Around, on the Burse played again with old Blues and Jugband colleagues together, did not appear until nearly 10 years after his death.
