Charlie Wilson (singer)

Charlie Wilson ( born January 29, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma ) is an American musician. In the 1970s and 1980s, he became known as the lead singer of the funk and soul group Gap Band.

Wilson began singing in the church choir at the age of three or four years. Later he was a member of the choir of his junior high school. With his brothers Ronnie and Robert, he called 1967, the Greenwood, Archer and Pine Street Band, which was renamed in 1979 in Gap Band, to life. Reached between 1979 and 1984 four albums of the band in the U.S. platinum status.

After it was about the band become quieter, Wilson published in 1992 and 2000 solo albums. In 2005 he returned with the title Signs, a collaboration with Snoop Dogg and Justin Timberlake, back into the international charts. Shortly afterwards, he released his third album Charlie, Last Name Wilson.
