Charlotte Sting

The Charlotte Sting were a team of North American women's professional basketball league the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association). Its home games wearing the team first in the Charlotte Coliseum and from 2005 in the Charlotte Bobcats Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina from.

The Sting were to 2003, the sister team of the NBA team Charlotte Hornets. Since 2003, they are the sister team of the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats on the initiative of the city of Charlotte and the NBA, as the (now New Orleans Hornets ) Charlotte Hornets moved to New Orleans.

On 3 January 2007, the owner of the Charlotte Sting announced that they no longer wanted the team fund. The WNBA was no owner for the team, so the players could be drafted on 8 January in a Dispersal Draft by the other teams in the league.
