Charlotte Thompson Reid

Charlotte Thompson Reid ( born September 27, 1913 in Kankakee, Illinois, † January 24, 2007 in Geneva, Illinois) was an American politician. Between 1963 and 1971, she represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charlotte Thompson Leo, so her maiden name, visited the East Aurora High School and then the Illinois College at Jacksonville. Under the name of Annette King, she joined some time as an entertainment artist. At the same time they hit as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In the congressional elections of 1962 it was in the 15th electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they became the successor of Noah M. Mason on January 3, 1963. After four elections they could remain until her retirement in 1971 Congress on October 7.

Between 1971 and 1976 Charlotte Reid was a member of the Federal Communications Commission. Later she participated in the set up by President Ronald Reagan Working Group on International Private sector ( President's task Force on International Private Enterprise ) between 1983 and 1985. From 1984 to 1988 she was a member of the board of the Hoover Institution. Charlotte Reid died on 24 January 2007 in Geneva.
