Charlton Iceland is an uninhabited island in the James Bay. Politically, the island is part of the Qikiqtaaluk Region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut.

The island is located northwest of Rupert Bay, in which the Rivière Rupert opens. It has an area of 308 km ². Charlton Iceland represents the southernmost point of Nunavut

Thomas James, who gave his name to the James Bay, wintered on the island in 1631. He named it after Charles I, King of England, Scotland and Ireland. The founder of Fort Rupert (1668 ) must have seen the island. Charles Bayly, governor of the Hudson 's Bay Company, was stranded in 1674 almost on the island. This was even before he proposed in 1679 Charlton Iceland as a central depot of the three located on James Bay trading post. This project was completed by 1685 or later. After the Hudson Bay Expedition ( 1686), the French were planning to deport their prisoners on the island.
