Charly McClain

Charly McClain ( born March 26, 1956 as Charlotte Denise McClain in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American former country singer, who celebrated their biggest success in the 1980s. With Who's Cheatin ' Who ( 1981), Paradise Tonight (1983, a duet with Mickey Gilley ) and Radio Heart (1985 ) reach their three number-one hits on the U.S. country charts.

Career

Charly McClain 1976 signed their first recording contract with Epic. In the following years she was allowed to perform the opening act for country stars such as Willie Nelson, Mel Tillis, Ronnie Milsap, Larry Gatlin, Charley Pride, Kenny Rogers, Don Williams or Eddie Rabbitt. Their hits were initially relatively small, only in 1978 she succeeded with That's What You Do to Me a first top 10 success on the country charts. A hit single in a duet with Johnny Rodriguez (I Hate the Way I Love It, 1979) joined them. With Who's Cheatin ' Who ( first place ) and Sleepin ' with the radio on ( fourth place ) followed in 1981, the final breakthrough. Overall, McClain took twelve solo albums for Epic, further here two successful duet LPs came with Mickey Gilley and Wayne Massey. In 1988 the singer after several less successful singles simply for the Charly McClain titled album for Mercury label. But here let their success further. Until 1989, McClain reach a total of 39 hits on the country charts. She was also twice for one of the most important awards of the country industry, the ACM Award nominations, and tried every now and then as an actress. She was among others in the series Hart to Hart (1981) and CHiPs (1983 ) can be seen. At the beginning of the 1990s, McClain finally withdrew into private life and ended her singing career.
