Charnett Moffett

Charnett Moffett ( born June 10, 1967 in New York City ) is an American jazz bassist.

Moffett is the son of Charles Moffett, who became known as a member of Ornette Coleman Trio and head of the Moffett Family Band. In 1974, he worked first time on a recording of the Moffett Family Band and participated in the following year on a tour of Japan. He attended the Fiorello H. La Guardia High School for the Music and Arts in New York City, the Mannes College of Music, and finally the Juilliard School of Music. He was in 1983 a member of the Wynton Marsalis Quintet and later the group Black Codes ( From the Underground). During the period he also worked with Stanley Jordan, the Manhattan Jazz Quintet and Tony Williams.

At Blue Note Records released in 1987 Beauty Within with his father Charles Moffett and his brother Codaryl Moffett as a drummer, Mondre Moffett on trumpet, Kenny Garrett alto saxophonist and a guitarist Stanley Jordan, 1988 Net Man with Michael Brecker, Al Foster, Kenny Drew Jr. and Stanley Jordan and 1989 Nettwork.

With Keshavan Maslaks Loved by Millions he joined in 1991 at the Moers Festival. In 1993, he played a Rhythm & Blood, a blend of jazz and pop, with whom he had great success in Japan. Besides being a member of McCoy Tyner Moffett band on their album Land of the Giants (2003) he played. He worked over the years with numerous renowned artists such as Art Blakey, David Benoit, Anita Baker, Harry Connick Jr., Ornette Coleman, Kevin Eubanks, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson, Stanley Jordan, Kenny Kirkland, Joachim Kühn, Frank Lowe, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Bette Midler, Mulgrew Miller, Courtney Pine, Dianne Reeves, Wallace Roney, Pharoah Sanders, Arturo Sandoval, Sonny Sharrock, David Sanborn, McCoy Tyner, Sadao Watanabe and Tony Williams and participated in several film music with.
