Chartered Institute of Management Accountants

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants ( CIMA ) is a London-based trade association, the training and qualification of its members and students in the areas of management accounting, controlling and accounting devoted. He also provides ongoing support for already qualified members, the Chartered Management Accountanttragen.

CIMA's focus under the Anglo-Saxon bodies of accountants is on the development of management accounting and control in the UK and worldwide. CIMA has more than 203,000 members and students in 173 countries. Traditionally, CIMA is similar to the related British qualifications of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants ( ACCA ) is particularly popular in the English-speaking world ( such as India, Pakistan, South Africa, etc.), it is now also more widespread in Central and Eastern Europe and African countries.

CIMA is a member of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies and the International Federation of Accountants.

Activities and structure of the qualification

The full CIMA qualification is a system of fifteen proficiency tests for prospective members, which is roughly equivalent to a Master's Degree. The tests are challenging and are each composed of only about half of the candidates.

CIMA is also active in the promotion of regional education, training and leadership development and the promotion of new technologies through its research foundation. The distribution of management accounting practice is accomplished through publications and other media. Monthly appear " Financial Management " and a quarterly magazine called "Management Accounting Research ", which is intended primarily for an academic audience.

CIMA is recognized as a professional body for various statutory purposes by Britain and other foreign governments. The Department regulates the activities of its members through a code of conduct, disciplinary action, a committee and an ongoing training offer that is mandatory for members.

CIMA is cooperating with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants ( AICPA ), a global management accounting qualification is offered, the Chartered Global Management Accountant ( CGMA )
