Chase County (Kansas)

Chase County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Cottonwood Falls.

Geography

The County is located in east-central Kansas and has an area of ​​2015 square kilometers, of which five square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Morris County, Lyon County, Greenwood County, Butler County and Marion County.

History

Chase County was formed on February 11, 1859 from parts of Butler County and the defunct Wise County and is among the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after Salmon Portland Chase, a U.S. Treasury Secretary and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
