Chasing Cars is a song by British alternative rock band Snow Patrol. He appeared on 1 May 2006 on the studio album Eyes Open at Universal Music and has been coupled on 6 June 2006 as a single.

Formation

Gary Lightbody wrote the song on the farm by producer Jacknife Lee. While touring in late 2005 the song was performed for the first time. Larger became famous for the song for the first time, as it was used for the third season finale of One Tree Hill. A few weeks later, the song was also used for the emotional finale of the second season of Grey's Anatomy and was known by an even larger audience.

Musical Style

In the song, the protagonist describes his love for a woman. The term " chasing cars " comes, according to Lightbody from his father, who said to love his son:

Reviews

Laut.de rated the song rather negative. Critic Benjamin says Fuchs for the single that Snow Patrol follow the trend of many British bands and would compulsively ballads on the album. The atmosphere of the song, he nevertheless positive.

Video

To Chasing Cars are two different music videos.

In the first version, which was released by Universal Music, one sees singer Gary Lightbody on earth outdoors lying. While at the beginning of the video seems even the sun, while pulling up the second chorus on clouds and it starts to rain heavily. Only towards the end of the video, when the rain has stopped again, Lightbody is on and the camera zooms it out further and further.

The second version, produced by the subsidiary Vertigo Records, very similar to the first video, but the locations are different.
