Chat Trakan District

Amphoe Chat Trakan ( Thai อำเภอ ชาติตระการ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the north of the province of Phitsanulok in northern Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Chat Trakan is located in the extreme north of the province of Phitsanulok and it is the only district of the province has a border with Laos. Chat Trakan lies in the basin of Maenam Nan ( Nan River ), which is part of the watershed of the Chao Phraya River. Through the county of Maenam Kwai River flows ( Khwae Little River ) and the smaller waters Cape ( Thai ลำน้ำ คับ ), Phai ( ลำน้ำ ภาค ) and Kleung ( ลำน้ำ คลึง ).

Adjacent Amphoe are seen from Southeast clockwise from Amphoe Na hao in the province of Loei, Amphoe Nakhon Thai, the, Wang Thong and Wat Bot Province Phitsanulok Amphoe Thong Saen Khan and Nam Pat and the province of Uttaradit. In the extreme north-east of the circle is the boundary for Lao province Sayaburi.

History

Chat Trakan was originally as well as Nakhon Thai a city ( Mueang ), but she was part of the district of Nakhon Thai. Chat Trakan was ( King Amphoe ) was established on May 1, 1969 first as a small district with the two Tambon Pa Daeng Chat Trakan. On April 1, 1974 Chat Trakan was upgraded to a Amphoe.

Attractions

In chat Trakan There are 36 active Buddhist temples ( Wat ).

Here is the National Park Namtok Chat Trakan ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก ชาติตระการ ). The 543 km ² park was opened on 2 November 1987 as the 55th national park of Thailand.

Management

Amphoe Chat Trakan consists of six sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 72 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Pa Daeng ( เทศบาล ตำบล ป่าแดง ) is the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district. It consists of parts of the Tambon Pa Daeng and Tha Sakae.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
